Pop! Who shot Andy Warhol?

A film noir inspired, who done it, comic tragedy! This contemporary musical began at Yale University and Stillpointe was fortunate to bring its Baltimore premiere to life, and had a lot of fun doing it! Conceptually we wanted to honor the pop art style so famously coined by Andy Wharhol, who's life and form the base of our story, while still giving it a colorful update. Projections featured heavily and I designed moody wall lighting with just enough to see the actors faces when necessary. We intentionally cast the roles to respect the gender expressions and identities of the real life icons reflected on stage. With jazzy melodies, comic and sexy burlesque, and a surrealist overtone we transported the audience into the moment of Andy Warhol's attempted assassination by close associate, and SCUM manifesto-writer, Valerie Solanas.
