MEET THE ARTIST

I am a director, stage manager, and designer for live performance events and a company member of StillPointe Theatre in Baltimore. I am currently involved with the MD Theatre Guide as a reviewer which allows me to not only get to see exciting work in the greater DC/Maryland area but to flex my analytical directing expertise, drawing on my deep breadth of pedagogical and practice based experience in global theatre styles. Since 2019 I have been a reader for the Baltimore Playwrights Festival, recommending new plays for readings. I am honored to be a volunteer in these positions and be able to share my skills in contribution to our artistic community.
In December of 2021, I received my MA with Distinction in Theatre Directing at the University of London Royal Holloway, under the tutelage of Katie Mitchell, OBE, one of Europe’s foremost and innovative directors. The Mitchell ‘toolkit’ for directing focuses on creating clear and sharp results from concept to performance. Throughout the course, I assisted Mitchell with the hosting of Zoom class, managing breakout rooms, and conducting “Secret Cinema” nights with viewings of her past productions, earning myself the title of “Zoom Queen” from my course-mates. My director’s log dissertation explored the aesthetic boundaries of Camp and the development of a methodology for comedic devised Drag performance.
Before the Pandemic, I directed the Baltimore Rock Opera’s production of Space Kümité, an immersive “choose-your-own-adventure” theatre experience with aerial fight choreography and custom built AI technology, which won best show at the 2019 BITR Sisters Awards ceremony. It opened me to so many ideas about how the live event should function in our film dominated industry.

To me, the essence of the performing arts is in the relationship created with the audience. To see one of my shows is to walk away with a sense that you participated in creating a unique and remarkable experience that defies the laws of reality.
